La Kasbah de Ridha....et de bettina!
Ridha and Bettina create designs inspired by Tunisia, its ancient civilizations, and the abundant richness of Arab culture, along with the ancestral connection to Italy.

Their work transforms symbols, landscapes, and the values of a country into a contemporary, sensitive, and universal graphic language.

A land of civilizations

Tunisia is a layered land, shaped by the passage and dialogue of civilizations. It is within this historical depth that Ridha and Bettina draw their inspiration.

From Carthage, they embrace the founding vision of Dido, a feminine figure of strength and audacity, the Mediterranean openness of its ports, and the spirit of resistance embodied by Hannibal and his elephants.

The Roman legacy — from the amphitheater of El Djem to the mosaics of the Bardo — informs their sense of composition, rhythm, and refinement, reflecting an ancient dialogue between cultures.

The Amazigh memory, original foundation

More deeply still, their creation is rooted in Amazigh memory, an ancient foundation of Tunisia.

Berber symbols, transmitted through carpets, tattoos, pottery, and vernacular architecture, inspire powerful and essential geometries: protective diamonds, fertility chevrons, lines evoking journey, time, and transmission.

This ancestral visual language speaks of connection to the land, to the body, to freedom and to community — a timeless source that Ridha and Bettina translate into contemporary motifs.

Spirituality and shared signs

Kairouan, with its Great Mosque, infuses their work with quiet spirituality and a reverence for learned geometry, recalling Tunisia’s role as a center of knowledge and intellectual radiance within the Arab world.

Visual symbols naturally emerge: the crescent and star, a shared horizon and identity; the Hand of Fatima, protective and passed from generation to generation; jasmine, a sign of purity, hospitality, and dignity, later a symbol of renewal; the blue door of Sidi Bou Said, an elegant opening toward the Mediterranean.

Scenery and Everyday Life

Their patterns converse with the earth and the landscapes.
The olive tree, patient and ancient, inspires deep and tranquil lines.
The desert, with its dunes and silence, suggests purity, endurance, and inner freedom.
The sea, ever-present, symbolizes passage, exchange, migration, and the constant connection with the world.

These landscapes are echoed y human figures : the Tunisian woman, symbol of a modernity rooted in history; the café, a place of dialogue and collective reflection; the street - from the souk and the medina to Avenue Bourguiba - a living space of movement, debate, and expression.

Invisible values, creative strength

Values

Beyond forms, it is invisible yet powerful values that run through their work: dignity (كرامة), freedom (حرية), resilience, humor in the face of adversity, and a deeply rooted hospitality.

These values nourish a creation that is sincere, attentive, and profoundly human.

A contemporary vision

By transforming these multiple inheritances — Amazigh, Carthaginian, Arab, and Mediterranean — into unique motifs, Ridha and Bettina celebrate Tunisia in all its complexity.

Their work pays tribute to a living, plural, and ever-evolving Arab culture, offering a contemporary reading of a heritage that is deeply universal.

They love each other.

And within that love, they create.
One is the quiet strength,
the other the untamed impulse.
Between Tunisia and Italy,
the sea breathes.
From that breath, a creation is born —
fragile, free, essential.
